So you have a brand spankin’ new puppy - congratulations!
They are so adorable, it is hard to imagine them ever being any real trouble . . .
Welcome to the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy program! S.T.A.R. stands for Socialization, Training, Activity, and Responsible Owner. This 6-week class is designed to get puppies up to 12 months old and their owners off to a good start before bad habits set in. It is also a wonderful preparatory course toward earning the Canine Good Citizen certification.
What’s the big deal if they:
Tug a little on the leash?
Nibble on your fingers (they are only teething, right?)
Are still having accidents in the house?
Chew a pair of shoes? The remote control? Table leg?
Beg for your food?
Don’t come when you call them? Bark at everything . . . or nothing?
