AKC Canine Good Citizen Certification
Classes and testing
Service Description
Ever since you got your dog . . . Do friends make excuses not to come around anymore? Do you strategically move furniture over mysterious spots or chew marks? Do you make up excuses why you cannot go anywhere anymore? Do you tell others your noise cancelling headphones are a fashion statement? Do the ER personnel question your frequent mysterious injuries? You are not alone! We all dream of a well-mannered dog that is trained and well-behaved in the home, in public places and in the presence of other dogs. This is why the AKC Canine Good Citizen certification was established. The CGC Program is designed to teach responsible dog ownership and certify dogs who meet certain training standards. It is for both mixed breed and purebred dogs. After passing the 10 items on the CGC Test, they will be certified through the AKC with the CGC designation. An added incentive for those living in certain communities or rentals with dog restrictions, a CGC Certification can be helpful in determining if a dog might be allowed to live in there. CGC Certification can also be recognized by some homeowner insurance companies in determining policy coverage.
